Our Story

We are Sacha and Michael, husband and wife, living in the heart of rural France, with a perhaps slightly excessive passion for candles.

The French Candle Co. was born from our love of France — not only its magnificent châteaux and interiors steeped in history, but also the little moments that make it so special: coffee on a terrace, a stroll through a village market, the scent of pine trees warmed by the sun, or a pâtisserie discovered as you turn a corner.

It is this France that we try to capture through fragrance.

In our workshop in Boussac, in the Creuse, we create and hand-pour our candles in small batches. Each fragrance is imagined as an evocation of a place, a season or a memory — from Notre-Dame to the Île de Ré, from an apéritif on a terrace to the warm scents of Christmas.

We care just as much about what you see as what you smell. Amber glass, understated labels and carefully chosen materials allow our creations to sit naturally within the home, while leaving the fragrance to tell the story.

Our candles are made using a rapeseed and coconut wax, chosen for its clean, even burn, and paired with linen and cotton wicks. Each candle is carefully poured in our workshop before making its way to your home.

Because, for us, fragrance can do far more than simply scent a room. It can bring back a memory, evoke a much-loved place, or suddenly make you feel as though you are somewhere else.
